Judge Smails: How would you like to come over and mow my lawn

Although my lawn is not as big as Judge Smails, the grass is high. I have not cut it for two weeks. I put the Scotts Turf Builder With PLUS 2 Weed Control on my lawn a few weeks ago, it has rained almost every day for the last 8 days, and when it stops raining I am at work.

They say the rain will stop this weekend. If it does, I will have about 6 bags of grass clipping to send off to the recycle center on Wednesday morning.

Boo Hiss KFC Coupon

On Wednesday May 6th, I received an e-mail from Mom. It was a link to Oprah.com. Normally I could care less about going to her web site or watching her show… it’s just not for me.

Anyways, the reason I went there was to get the free coupon for KFC Grilled Dinner. FREE FOOD?!? I’m there! When I went to download or print the coupon, I was stopped by the error message from KFC. They only way I can download the coupon was if I was using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or above. WTF?

Unfortunatlly the coupon downlaod / print offer was only valid until 11:59 PM on Wednesday May 6th. I forgot to reboot into Windows to get the coupon.

Looks like I was not the only one having problems.

Broken Regulator

Well, I had my grill working well until today. I opened the valve one the regulator and it starting leaking propane gas. Dinner was served from the stove instead. All I can say is thank goodness I didn’t have bratwurst tonight.

Good Bike Riding Day

After completing some tasks this morning, I was able to enjoy a nice bike ride in the late morning. According to my cyclo-computer, I went for a nice 7 mile ride. This was the second time this year I had time to go out and enjoy the bike.

Baseball Game

Last night I went to see the Wilmington Blue Rocks play against the Salem Red Sox. The previous game was a rain delay and was postponed until yesterday. When I arrived they were in the 5th inning. The Blue Rocks lost 11 – 4, but I did get to see a home run.

Of course it rained between games and it was cold. But the second game was better. Final score was 6 – 4 Salem Red Sox. Still we had a good time.

First Grill Fest of the Year

I purchased parts for my grill last night, and once I completed all the yard work, I cleaned the grill and installed a new Drip Vaporizer Bar, Hickory Flavor Ceramic Briquettes, and a new grill grate. We had steaks, shrimp, grilled squash, and hotdogs. Good times indeed.

Friday and Saturday are looking to be really nice days weather wise. I am planning on mowing the lawn, having lunch with a good friend, and purchasing some replacement parts for the grill. Johnsonville bratwurst and a good beer is in the forecast. If I am lucky, I can get in some bike time too.

After playing around with Ubuntu 9.04 Linux using the Live-CD, I got my bicycle out. I gave my bike a one over and decided to purchase new pedals. The ones that came with the bike were plastic. They served me well for two years, but when it rains, my feet slip off.

So I went to my favourite bike shop Wooden Wheels (where I bought my bike and gear), to pick up a new set of metal pedals with a good grip. Unfortunately I arrived 5 minutes after they closed. So I made a trip across town to Performance Bicycle to see if they were open. I was able to get the pedals I wanted, for the same price I saw at Wooden Wheels.

I purchased a set of Forté ATB Comp Pedals. Installation was easy, a no-brainer as long as yo can operate a wrench, and I was off enjoying the late afternoon an a bike ride. Here are some pictures of my bike and the pedals I bought. For $21.99, they were a great bargain.
